The one and only contest with more than one winner, the rules were changed then following year to prevent this from happening again.

The set was designed by Spanish artist Salvador Dali.

Austria boycotted the show as Spain was under Franco-rule at the time.

Wales attempted to enter the contest, even selecting a song, however BBC Cymru do not have the rights to broadcast the show in the UK, the BBC can only enter one song on behalf of the four principalities that make up the United Kingdom.
