Eurovision By Year
Although there have been 61 contests since 1956, it could be argued that each one is a new show. The contest travels around the continent from city to city (or tiny village in the case of 1993!) and with it a whole new show is born. Throughout the years cities and nations have seen the contest as an opportunity to wind their culture into the fabric of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The show has been spanned a range of venues from an equestrian centre (1993) to an imperial palace throne room (1967). It’s been as far east as Azerbaijan (2012) and west as Ireland (1993), north as Finland (2007) and south as Israel (1979, 1999). It’s probably fair to say there is not a part of Europe that the contest hasn’t touched during its history.
